Payments

The capital levy and the membership fee for the current school year and the next school year are due with the admission application. In subsequent years the membership fee is due with tuition.

There are three options for making payments:

1. One payment option due on July 1.
2. Two payments on or before July 1 and December 1.
3. Twelve pre-authorized payments starting July 1. To select this option, complete the pre-authorized Payment Form and attach a VOID cheque. Your payments will be deposited into the King’s Christian Collegiate account at CIBC.

Annual Renewal

The process is simple. As per the Tuition Rate Schedule when you first enrolled, the agreement assumes enrollment until graduation unless we are notified no later than May 30th.

We will apply the new rates to your 2022-2023 tuition account based on the same payment and transportation arrangements on file.

If your agreement is to make one or two payments for the full tuition payments, please forward these post-dated cheques to the attention of the Finance Department (Janet Nellich) no later than May 30, 2022.

If you are currently on the pre-authorized monthly payment plan, the new rate will be reflected on the July 1st payment (payment schedules vary depending on when you enrolled your first child). Late Payments

All accounts in arrears without consultation with the Financial Services office will be charged 1% per month.

Refund Policy

King’s Christian Collegiate has developed policies to protect the integrity of prudent financial planning while respecting the changing financial reality for families with students enrolled in the King’s program. In extenuating circumstances involving major health concerns or other challenging circumstances, a differentiated policy may apply. In all other circumstances of withdrawal from King’s Christian Collegiate during the school year, whether voluntary or involuntary, the following refund policy will apply:

• The capital levy is not refundable.
• The membership fee is not refundable.
• The transportation fee is not refundable.
• Tuition paid is refundable, consistent with the schedule as outlined.
• If a student withdraws prior to October 1, a tuition payment of $6,000 is fully due and the balance of payments is refundable. If $6,000 has not been paid by the date of withdrawal, the balance is due on the withdrawal date.
• If a student withdraws on or before the end of the First Semester (usually in late January), 50% of the tuition plus $3,000 is fully due. The remaining payments are refundable. If 50% of the tuition plus $3,000 has not been paid at the time of transfer or withdrawal, the balance is due within 30 days.

If a student withdraws during the Second Semester, all fees are fully payable and there are no applicable refunds. If all fees have not been paid, the balance is due on the date of transfer or departure.

Tax Receipt Policy

King’s Christian Collegiate is a registered charity. As a charity, a portion of the tuition paid may qualify for an official receipt for income tax purposes. The King’s Financial Services office calculates the amount eligible using a formula based on Canada Revenue Agency regulations. The actual amount of the receipt that can be issued depends upon individual family situations and the financial costs of providing education as reported on the annual audited financial statements. Receipts are issued before the end of February.

Bursaries

King’s Christian Collegiate offers a readily available bursary program designed for the well being of King’s families. From inception, King’s has maintained a clearly stated strategic goal to welcome families from a wide range of incomes to participate fully in the King’s program. Financial relief is available for tuition fees, transportation fees, service trip fees and other program excursions. King’s makes no provision for bursaries based on athletic, academic or other abilities. The Director of Admissions can guide you through the bursary process.

Each parent/guardian wishing to enrol a student in King’s usually becomes a member of King’s Christian Collegiate first. As a community of Christian parents, teachers and supporters, we are committed to involvement in all aspects of the operation of King’s. Membership is open to all who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, and sincerely agree with our Vision and Mission statements. Members should be actively involved in the life of their home church and display Christian principles concerning lifestyle, marriage and the upbringing of their children.

A Board of Directors elected by King’s members manages the affairs of the King’s community, including setting policy, appointing administration and other staff, and appointing committees to support the school.

King’s accepts students with a range of learning styles into its academic program. The majority of our students intend to pursue higher education and are equipped for their futures in a challenging academic environment that rewards student initiative and learning-readiness. A key component of the admissions process is an interview with the Director of Admissions and the submission of all academic records and educational testing, where appropriate. No written entrance test is required.

A strong support system is in place to meet the unique needs of our international students. Along with ESL classes and teachers, there is a guidance counsellor ready to provide direction, encouragement and assistance. Our faculty is keenly aware of the transition cycle that is common for students who have moved away from their homes and culture, so teachers are generous in their encouragement and, when necessary, accommodations. Our Student Life advisors and Prefects are intentional about helping our international students integrate into the student body. There is a special Student Council role for the International Student Representative. Every year, special activities are planned to expose students to Canadian culture and geography, and to help them build connections among the student body. Several international students have been acknowledged as leaders at King’s – winning competitions in art and mathematics, and securing roles such as Prefects, club organizers, and sports team captains. Recently, an international student was elected by the student body as the Student Council Prime Minister (2010). Many international students have graduated from King’s Christian Collegiate with top honours and have been accepted into prestigious universities in Canada and the United States. We endeavour to help our international students achieve the goals and dreams that convinced them to make the bold decision of studying in Canada.

King’s Christian Collegiate was created to provide Christian education for the Halton area Christian community. The program is designed to fulfill the needs of a wide array of student abilities.

We are committed to the provision of an enriched and challenging program for every student. Students and teachers work well together when they experience clearly defined tasks. Teachers are expected to teach with expertise, with passion, with care for the student, and most important, with a supreme love for God. Exemplary instruction is considered to be a cornerstone for learning.

Research is clear that it is not select programs, not course variety, and not class size that predicts student success. Rather, the best predictor for student success is skilled teachers who care deeply for their students and are committed to their well-being. King’s is designed to meet the learning needs of up to 700 students.

Students are expected to enter the school with a learning readiness. Their job is to attend to learning. They are required to show energy towards this task by actively participating in the dynamic of the classroom, working diligently on assignments, asking for learning help when necessary and showing respect for one another and God in all situations.

To protect this vision and mission for Christian education, the Board of Directors has adopted the following admission criteria:

a) The parents or guardian are required to be members of King’s Christian Collegiate (as per the Membership Policy).
b) An appropriate program placement must be available for the student.
c) The parents or guardian and the student agree that the student will participate in all compulsory courses and school activities.
d) The student agrees to read, understand and endorse The King’s Student Charter for a Flourishing Life.
e) At the discretion of the Administration, an exception can be made to criteria (a) if it is determined that admission is beneficial for the student and for King’s Christian Collegiate. There will be a limit of 30 non-member families with students at King’s. The total number of English Language Learner (ELL) students will not exceed 10% of the total student population.

The Board reserves the right to deny or to remove admission due to any of the following criteria:

– insufficient classroom space as per policy
– inability to serve specific learning needs
– behaviour contrary to school policy
– any other reason that the Board may deem in the best interest of the King’s community and/or the student.

Waiting List Priority

In the event that a grade level reaches capacity, the criteria below will be used to determine priority sequence for admission if new spaces should materialize. These criteria will hold precedence until December 1 of the year preceding the student’s September enrolment.

Priority #1

The first priority is current or prior enrolment at King’s Christian Collegiate by a sibling.

Priority #2

The second priority is the date of initial membership, and continuous thereafter, until enrolment.

Priority #3

The third priority is the date of the registration of the student as a prospective student via the King’s admissions online portal. This criterion is conditional on the provision of all forms, documentation and fees to the office within ten working days of the student interview.
