Academic Teams

DECA

Are you interested in business, marketing, finance, or management? DECA is the perfect club for you! DECA is open to all students from Grades 9-12 and prepares leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in the business world. Students engage in a role-play case study in front of a panel of judges and compete at the Regional, Provincial, and International levels. DECA is a great opportunity to develop critical thinking skills, network with like-minded students, and discover different career paths in business.

Model United Nations (M.U.N.)

For students interested in debate, global justice issues, and research, Model UN is a great way to engage in analytical discussion and delve into important topics that are relevant in our world today. For more information, visit the King’s MUN website.

Robotics

The Robotics Team builds relationships between students and mentors as they design, prototype, construct, program and test a robot. Under the guidance of our Physics teacher and Computer Technologies teacher, students learn technical skills by 3D modelling, 3D printing and creating customized CNC and water jet parts. The team’s activities culminate in a world-wide STEM-based competition in a 3 vs 3 game setting, where King’s consistently performs with encouraging success. Students also learn real-world business skills by managing funds and sponsors (eg. Pratt and Whitney Canada).

Science Fair

The Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair (“BASEF”) is a competition for science students that include science, technology, engineering and math in Grades 9-12. After the projects are completed at school, the science fair takes place over the course of four days towards end of March, involving judging, public viewing, and the Awards Ceremony. Top winners go on to compete at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair and the Canada-Wide Science Fair.

Clubs

DocTalk

Students interested In medical careers will be excited about DocTalk, a club meeting Tuesdays at lunch, featuring guest speakers (doctors, medical students and a wide variety of health professionals), day trips to Sunnybrook Hospital and SickKids Hospital, a chance to learn diagnostic and surgical techniques, and participate in health-related research studies.

I Am Second

I Am Second is a group of students and teachers at King’s who want to explore and uncover who God is and how He is calling us into a deeper relationship with him. We gather together twice a month for a time of fellowship, worship, story telling, and small group discussions. In addition to our bi-monthly gatherings, there are small groups for males and females meeting weekly. There is also a grade 12 discipleship and leadership group that meets in preparation to lead and disciple others. I Am Second is a space where students can feel a sense of “belonging”, develop an understanding of “being” based on God’s design and purpose, and begin or continue the process of “believing” that there is a God who loves us greatly and desires to be in relationship with us for eternity.

Strings

If you want to learn to play a new instrument, why not join strings lessons? On Friday mornings, novice strings players have an opportunity to increase their individual abilities in a group setting, learning viola, violin, cello or double bass.

Student Council

A vibrant and creative Student Council is formed each year where, under the mentorship of teacher advisors, students work together to plan outstanding events that bring the student body together and provide opportunities for students and staff to demonstrate their school spirit. The Student Council is always offering enticing ways for students to get involved.

Yearbook

The Yearbook Committee never fails to create outstanding books that help us treasure our King’s friends and memories. Expertise in photography, layouts and meeting deadlines is important.
