John de Boer has been involved in distinctive Christian schooling throughout his career in education. He served as Vice Principal of Students at Hamilton District Christian High School from 1997 to 2003. Drawn to the compelling vision for learning and Godly character development at King’s, he became Vice Principal of Academics in 2003. He began to serve as Principal in August 2011.
John holds a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Calvin College where he also completed his teacher training. He holds a Christian School Certificate from the Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools.
As Principal at King’s, John protects and promotes King’s purpose to “equip students to grow in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.”
Lisa Conlin serves as the Vice Principal of School Culture, a role that capitalizes on her experience in establishing the Student Life Program at King’s and developing new initiatives such as the Prefect Program and the Grade 10 Challenge. After studying English and Art while earning education credentials at Calvin College in Michigan, Lisa taught for six years in Alberta. She then joined King’s in its third year, serving as a teacher, a guidance counsellor and the Director of International Students and Student Life. She has poured much effort and passion into the Global Initiative Program, International Student Retreats and Student Council and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Educational Administration at the University of Toronto’s OISE.
After completing an honours BA in Mathematics at Wilfrid Laurier University, Kevin Smith taught for six years in British Columbia. Joining King’s in its second year, he quickly established himself as an exemplary math teacher, viewing each student as an image-bearer of God and able to appreciate God’s beauty and order as demonstrated in mathematics. In 2008, he completed a Master’s degree in Mathematics for Teachers through York University. Since 2009, he has served as the Director of the Advanced Placement Program and exams at King’s. He has served as Vice Principal of Instruction since August 2011.
Sharon Roebbelen has served as the Director of Communications and Admissions at King’s Christian Collegiate since 2006. As a founding Board Member, she was instrumental in rallying a group of like-minded parents around the vision of establishing a Christian high school in the Halton region. Sharon is enthusiastically committed to placing students in a positive, Kingdom-focused environment where they will be celebrated and given the opportunity to flourish. With a Bachelor of Applied Arts and experience in educational television, worship ministry, research and marketing, Sharon brings a variety of relevant experiences to her role.
